Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown
The is bold brown ale gets its body form a team of malts, including caramel malt for sweetness, flaked barley for dense foam, a bit of chocolate malt for color, and aromatic and munich malts for added depth. German and perle hops add a touch of bitterness to balance the sweetness. The addition of rich Sumatra coffee takes this perfectly balance brown ale to a decadent level.
Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown will be a 12 ounce bottle release. Tap room on April 29th, Distribution starting May 2, 2016.
Other coffee infused beers by Founders includes: Breakfast Stout, Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Canadian Breakfast Stout and Frangelic Mountain Brown.
IT’S FINALLY BACK!
Dogfish Head Brewing has been busy of late releasing new brews. Squall IPA (Actually release once in 2009) is another release which is scheduled for mid March 2016. Squall is a 9% DIPA, coming in at 75 IBUs. It’s unfiltered, brewed with three types of malts as well as dry hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Palisade hops. This beer is described as a citrus forward IPA with floral notes of pine and grapefruit.
Squall is bottle conditioned which naturally carbonates the beer. Additional yeast and sugar are added just before the beer is bottled. This causes a second fermentation which leads to a creamier mouth feel.
Squall is a limited release beer and will be made available to 31 states that Dogfish Head distributes to. It has been described as a juicier, more tropical, version of 90 minute. From what I can find, its looks like a bottle conditioned version of their amazing 90 minute IPA. Squall will be available in champagne style bombers. This looks like a good one. If you didn’t get a chance to try it back in 2009, don’t miss out. This might not be available again for another 7 years. Cheers!!! Rob
